JOHN AINLAY FAMILY

Among the many pioneer families planning reunions during the 50th anniversary is the Ainlay "clan."
Mr. and Mrs. John Ainlay and four small children came from Brussels, Ontario and homesteaded in Nance county, Nebraska. They sold their land and came to Farnam, in the early spring of 1890. The Ainlay family while not perhaps pioneers were early settlers and pioneered on the raw land, and with a large family they recall many early day experiences. The Ainlay family took up land where Albert Smallfoot and family lives, most of their family grew to manhood and womanhood while living here, and married sons and daughters of pioneers. Mr. Ainlay passed away at Farnam June 27, 1911, and Mrs. Ainlay was called to here reward March 10, 1925 at her home here. Their residence after moving to town was where the Angie Miller family live.
Mr. and Mrs. Ainlay were the parents of thirteen children, nine of whom are still living, as follows: Wm. J., Alliance, Nebr.;
Benjamin J., Belgrade; W. T., Denver; Mrs. (Charlotte) Fitch, Gothenburg; Mrs. (Lulu) McNickle, Scottsbluff; Mrs. (Effie) Richard, Boulder, Colo.; Henry L., Hollywood, Calif.; Mrs. (Ella) Matchette, Guthrie, Okla.; Mrs. (Rachel) King, Cedar Rapids, Nebr. The four not living were: Chas. W., Mrs. (Phoebe) Hann, Mrs. (Mary) Freeman and Everett G.
The ones not coming here at the time the family moved here, but were well known among the early residents here: Mrs. Matchette, Mrs. Freeman, Mrs. King and Everett.
There are fifty grandchildren and forty great grandchildren, many of whom will be present at the celebration.

Jean, Jane and Wilson Parker are laying claim of having more pioneer ancestors than anyone in Farnam. Their parents were born here. Their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Parker and Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Ainlay, and their great grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John Ainlay, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Albert and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wilson were all pioneer settlers.
