Fay Elden Herndon was born July 3, 1939, to Arthur and Velna Herndon at Moorefield, Neb. He peacefully passed away at home in North Platte on March 3, 2025, at age 85.

Fay lived, farmed and ranched in the Moorefield area for nearly 40 years until moving to North Platte in 1978. He worked for the City of North Platte as Park Supervisor and was an auctioneer.

On August 11, 1979, Fay married Linda Louise Bartman. They had two children and were married for over 42 years when she passed away in 2022.

Fay was a member of the Auctioneers Association. He was a hard worker and had a passion for nature and working with his hands. He loved gardening and selling his pumpkins and tomatoes, and was a woodworker who made buggies and wagons. Most importantly, Fay had great love for his family and enjoyed his coffee buddies.

Along with his beloved wife Linda, he was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Homer Lee, Del and Harold.

Fay is survived by his children, Todd Herndon (Alisha) and Karen Herndon (Alan Sullivan) of North Platte; grandkids, Taylor, Gunnar and Harper; his brother, Joe Herndon and sister-in-law, Jane Herndon of Gothenburg; and other family.

Services are 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Odean Colonial Chapel then burial will follow in the Moorefield Cemetery.
