Clarissa Catherine Hart was born Jan. 4, 1872, in Monroe county, Iowa. When a child she came to Nebraska with her parents, who located at South Bend in 1877. In 1884 they moved to Stockville, where she grew to young womanhood.

On August 13, 1892 she was married to Edgar H. Hart. After making their home at Stockville for several years she and Mr. Hart lived at Tilden for eight years, then moved to Lincoln. Mrs. Hart was the mother of two daughters and three sons, all of whom survive. In her younger years she was an active member of the Rebekah lodge at Arcadia.

Mrs. Hart had been in fairly good health until several months ago. On Dec. 31 she was taken to Bryan Memorial hospital where, having failed to respond to treatment, she died Feb. 1, 1938.

Surviving are her husband, Edgar H. Hart; five children, Loyce R. and Harry C. of Lincoln; Elza E. of Milford, Edna E. Jones of Denver, and Lola Marie Buettgenbach of Lincoln; five brothers, Thomas Messersmith of Isle, Minn., Harry of Farnam, Alonzo of Mountain Grove, Mo., George of Brandon and Andrew of North Platte; four sisters, Mrs. Emma Foster of Cambridge, Mrs. Amanda Kelly of Weatherford, Okla., Mary Bray of Mitchell, and Mrs. Lucy Adkisson of North Platte; nine grandchildren, other relatives and a large circle of friends. One brother and two sisters preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Feb. 3 at Wadlows in Lincoln, Rev. W. G. Rembolt officiating. Burial in Wyuka.
