Stanley K. Preitauer

GOTHENBURG — Stanley K. Preitauer, 77, died Feb. 25, 1994, at his home in Gothenburg.

He was born April 7, 1916, at Hygiene, Colo., to Albert and Mabel Spencer Preitauer. He grew up in the North Platte area and spent summers in the Brady area with his uncle. He married Ilah Koster June 14, 1936, at Gandy.

An area farmer, he was also employed at Mann Hay Company for more than 35 years. He was a school board member for more than 20 years at Valley School District 47. He was a member of the Gardeniers Garden Club since 1966, the Aching Back Garden Club and First Presbyterian Church and was a square and round dance instructor and caller.

Survivors include his wife of Gothenburg; two sons, William “Bill” of Gothenburg and John of Stamford; three daughters, Adelyn Hess of Alma, Joyce Preitauer of Lincoln and JoAnn (Jim) Mathews of Gothenburg; three brothers, Robert “Gale” of Red Bluff, Calif., John of Ogallala and Donald of North Platte; 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Myrna; a brother, a sister, a stepbrother and twin granddaughters.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Joe Tropansky officiating. Burial will be in the Gothenburg Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at McVay Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
