James J. Prey

James J. Prey, one of the earliest settlers of Lancaster county passed away at the home of his son, A. G. Prey, in Denver, May 24, 1921.

Mr. Prey settled in what is now Lancaster county in 1856, with his father, John D. Prey, two brothers, John W. and Thomas R. Prey, and several sisters.

In 1865 Mr. Prey moved to Otoe county and settled on a farm near Dunbar. He married Miss Elizabeth Garrow and three children were born to them: William D., Alfred G. and Dolly M. When the family were grown Mr. and Mrs. Prey retired from the farm and spent their time traveling. On June 4, 1915, Mrs. Prey was called away, a year later the older son, William D., died, and since that time Mr. Prey has divided his time between the homes of his son, A. G. Prey, of Denver, and his daughter, Mrs. Herbert O. Willson, of Lincoln. Mr. Prey is survived by one brother, George W. Prey, of Minco, Oklahoma, and one sister, Mrs. Henry J. Stoops of Brush, Colo., besides his son and daughter.
