Esther E. Lincoln

Esther E. Lincoln, a beloved lady passed from this life Sunday evening at age 88 to be eternally with the Lord. She was born July 30, 1895 in Stockville, NE. There she grew up, and at age 21, married her childhood sweetheart, John Henry “Jack” Lincoln, whose family had also homesteaded the area. Together, they started in the cleaning business at Enid, OK during the Dust Bowl days, relocating permanently at OKC in 1934. Their first location was on Paseo Street and named the Valleria Cleaning Co., branching out as the city grew, to 12 different pick up shops, the latter ones renamed the Caballero Cleaners & Laundry. Mrs. Lincoln managed a main plant at 527 NW 23rd Street from 1954 until retiring in 1964. She had been a faithful member of the Hudson Ave. Baptist Church since March 12, 1944, and at one time belonged to the Eastern Star. Survived by a sister, Mrs. Grace Bayley of Benkelman, NE; granddaughter, Mrs. Jesse DeGeare; grandson, Richard Pruitt, Jr.; 2 great-grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter. Services Thursday, 2 pm at the Hudson Ave. Baptist Church, 408 NW 30, interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Directed by Guardian Midtown.
