Obituary
William Harry Fowler, late of the motor vessel “Queenie Bay” at Richardson’s Marina at Nanaimo, B.C. formerly from Barkley Sound and the Alberni Canal where he was a fisherman from 1936-41 and from 1952-1966.
Born in Farnam, Nebraska, he lived 84 years. As cowboy, prospector, homesteader, logger, sheepherder and fisherman, he lived a roving life to the full. He was healthy, active and gainfully employed to his last days.
He was predeceased by his wife Doris in 1971 and by his sister Blanche in 1964 in Burlington, Washington. He leaves behind one son, Kenneth, with his wife, Merry in Coquitlam; two grandchildren, Melanie Doris and William; also many nephews, nieces and a host of friends.
Funeral was held May 13 at the Nanaimo Native Pentecostal Church with cremation following. Pastors Kennedy, Dunkin and Miller officiated.
The boat, “Queenie Bay” will become a mission boat at Bella Bella as a memorial of Bill’s love and concern for the native people of B.C.
