Dwight C. Austin, a native of Farnam and a life-long resident of the area, passed away on Monday, August 4, 1975, at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital following a lingering illness. Born Oct. 11, 1915, at Farnam, he was 59.

He had been an insurance agent for many years, and was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion, the Elks and the Eagles.

Survivors include his wife, Irene; and two sons: Ramsey and Mark, of Cozad; his mother, Myrtle Austin of Gothenburg; four brothers, Robert of Louisville, Ky., Ernest of Sacramento, Calif., Ira of Mission Kansas, and George of Enumclaw, Washington; three sisters, Mrs. Ellen Wiltrout of Juniata, Mrs. Olive Rubenthaler of Gothenburg, and Mrs. Arlene Mobley of Coos Bay, Oregon; and four grandchildren.

Services will be held this morning, Thursday, at ten o’clock at the McVay Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Hugh H. Houchin of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Music will be by Mrs. Edwin Fruit and Mrs. Clifford Geiken, with Mrs. Harry Ostergard as organist. Pallbearers will all be men who are in the insurance business: Wilbur Carlson of York, Don Dyer of Cozad, Harold Elliott of Elwood, Gene Hoppe of Farnam, Art Soundy of Lexington and Dwayne Reese of Ogallala. Interment will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Military Rites at graveside by Gothenburg Firing Squad.
