Services For Dick Craig On Saturday
L.C. “Dick” Craig passed away Wednesday noon at his home south of Brady. Born Dec. 17, 1881, at Humboldt, Neb, he was 87.
A long-time resident of our area, Mr. Craig will be remembered by many for his resemblance to Buffalo Bill.
Dick was the youngest member of a family of six sons and two daughters born to William G.L. and Sarah Edwards Craig.
Five brothers, Caswell, Robert, Henry, John and James and two sisters, Adelia Ellis, and Lena Brooks, have preceded him in death.
He came with his parents to Farnam in 1886. On Dec. 8, 1906, he married Gertrude Atkinson. He lived 62 years with his wife on the same ranch south of Brady and raised purebred Hereford cattle. He was semi-retired for several years, and was in his younger years a very active man. He had an admirable code of ethics by which he lived. He provided well for his family, and was a very friendly person. Though quite ill at times, he seldom complained.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
Surviving him are his wife, Gertrude; two sons Ray of Farnam and Harley of Englewood, Colo., a daughter Mrs. Agnes McLean of Denver; four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and his many friends.
Services were held Saturday afternoon in the Mcvay Chapel, with Elder E.R. Schwab Jr. of the Seventh Day Adventist Church officiating. Steve Breuer was the soloist with Miss Linda Breuer his accompanist. Pallbearers were James S Clark, Robert Craig, T.V. Palmer, Milton Craig, Allen Feckenscher and Ernest Peterson.
Internment was in the Gaslin Cemetery.
