Alta Mae, infant daughter of Oliver and Cora Sheffield, was born October 27, 1912; departed this life April 30, 1913, aged 6 months and 3 days. Funeral was held Thursday afternoon at Independence. Services were conducted by Rev. L. L. Presler with interment in the cemetery near by.

As the fairest of all the flowers,
Came this wee one in our midst.
Her lips in a sad, sweet hour
By the angel “Death” were kissed.

God in His Omnipotence,
Saw fit to send her here,
And by her infant presence
To bring a ray of cheer.

But now her little work is done,
The loved ones have been blessed,
By this short service her crown is won
And she has gone to her long rest.

Oh friends, think not of your sorrow,
Tho’ bitter and deep it be,
But rather of the glad tomorrow,
When in heaven with her you’ll be.
