Donald Gaudreault
Donald LaVerne Gaudreault, 76, of Hurricane, UT, formerly of Farnam, NE, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2023, in St. George, UT. He was born on June 24, 1946, in Lexington, NE, to Marcus and Zelma Gaudreault.
Don spent his early years in Curtis, NE, where he delivered the North Platte Telegraph and set bowling ball pins by hand. He later moved to Farnam, NE, where he attended high school and participated in all sports, band, and choir. Don graduated high school in 1964 and attended the University of Nebraska Kearney before transferring to the University of North Colorado in Greeley, CO.
In 1965, he married Janice Slack, and together they had three children, Betty, Marc, and Tony. Don worked various jobs to support his family, including, Snap On tool dealer, Weld County Colorado Sheriff Posse, diesel mechanic, parts manager, and store manager. However, his true passion was working with his registered Angus cattle, farming and taking care of the land for future generations.
Don enjoyed going to stock car races, collecting Roseville pottery, model trains, and watching bald eagles. He also loved listening to the sound of trains passing by. Don was an member of the United Methodist Church in Farnam, NE, where he sang in the choir in his younger years.
The last eight years, Don and Janice spent their winters in Hurricane, UT, and summers in Nebraska. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus and Zelma Gaudreault, his in-law parents, Sanford (John) and Betty Slack, his brother-in-law, John Slack, and his cousin, Marcus Del Gaudreault.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Janice Gaudreault, his children, Betty (TO Loseke) Gaudreault of Paxton, NE, Marc (Oksana) Gaudreault of Castle Rock, CO, and Tony (Sharon Gradwohl - San Mateo, CA) Gaudreault of Hurricane, UT, his grandchildren, Austin (TY) Dansie of Eureka, UT, Jaylen Gaudreault of St. George, UT, Landon Gaudreault of Pancia, NV, Sophie and Hannah Gaudreault of Castle Rock, CO, and his great-granddaughter, Paxton Dansie of Eureka, UT. He is also survived by his step-grandchildren, Donavan, Declan, and Heidi Gradwohl of San Mateo, CA, and his beloved dog, Bernie.
Don will be remembered for his love of family, his dedication to his cattle and the land, and his passion for collecting pottery and model trains. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
Register Book Signing will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, NE; Friday, April 28, 2023, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, with family present.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at Lonestar Cowboy Church, Farnam, NE on April 29, 2023 at 11:00 am with Greg Boller officiating.
In Lieu of flowers and plants, memorials may be given to the family to be decided at a later date In Memory of Don.
