William Flanigan
William Flanigan, son of Thomas and Susan Flanigan, was born November 21, 1877 in Delaware, Ohio and passed away at his home in Moorefield, November 5, 1951 at the age of 73 years, 11 months, 12 days. When eight years of age his parents came in a covered wagon to Nebraska where they took a homestead five miles north of Moorefield. At the age of ten he was baptized in the Catholic church in Moorefield. He moved with his parents to Moorefield in 1906 and in 1910 began working for the Burlington railroad. In 1926 after the death of his mother he moved to Farnam where he remained working for the Burlington railroad until his eyesight failed in 1938 and he returned to Moorefield.
Mr. Flanigan is survived by five sisters, Mrs. Nora Spliethhof, Red Bluff, Calif.; Mrs. Josephine Sanderlind, Toledo, Ohio; Mrs. Sarah Carlson, Moorefield; Mrs. Esther Beerman, Farnam; Mrs. Lena Jensen, Minatare; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and three brothers.
The service was conducted by Elder Fern McCaig. Earl Carstensen’s were in charge of arrangements and interment was made in the Moorefield cemetery.
“What a Friend We Have in Jesus,”s “Rock of Ages” and “Whispering Hope” were sung. Pallbearers were Martin Krone, Harry Cross, Austin Hill, Lee Mast, Mat Wasley and Carson McKnight.
