Jacob Decalb Surber was born in Illinois May 12, 1848, and departed this life July 9, 1918, aged 70 years, 1 month, and 27 days.

He was united in marriage to Miss Luisa E. Crank, March 2, 1866. To this union were born five daughters, three of which preceded him to the great beyond.

On Feb. 19, 1886, his wife departed this life leaving him alone.

He was united in marraige to Mrs. Maria Kirtly May 26, 1887. To this union were born eight children, six of which are living, two having gone to rest. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, one step-daughter, Mrs. Ollie Miller of Blue Springs, Nebr., Mrs. Nellie Brittenham of Moorefield, Nebr., Mrs. Alice Johnson of Liverpool, Penn.

The three boys, Jacob, Jasper and John Surber, with Mrs. Frank Banzhaf, Mrs. Charles Metcalf and Miss Lela, all of Orafino. Also two sisters and one brother, Erile Surber, with a host of friends. May all look to God for comfort.
