The following obituary of Darwin Mayfield, was taken from the Maywood Eagle-Reporter. Mr. Mayfield is the brother of Mrs. Geo. Starkey of this place, who passed away at his home near Wellfleet Saturday, May 14th. He has visited here a number of times with his sister, and will no doubt be remembered by some of our readers.

Darwin O. Mayfield was born Aug. 25, 1863 in Mitchell county at Osage, Iowa. At the age of 18 he moved with his parents to Belvidere, Nebr. in 1881. In 1884 he moved to Frontier county, where he took a homestead.

On February 12, 1885 he was united in marriage to Ella Mae Reed of Belvidere, Nebr. To this union thirteen children were born, two of whom preceded him in death. He lived on his homestead until the year 1907, then moving to Wellfleet, Nebr., where he lived until his death.

He died at the age of 63 years, 8 months and 19 days. He leaves to mourn his death, eleven children, seventeen grandchildren, five brothers and two sisters.
