Moorefield Resident Passes Away
Thomas J. Dunbar, was born near Mount Sterling, Illinois, August 3, 1862, and departed this life at his home near Moorefield, Nebraska, October 3, 1931, aged 69 years, 2 months. At the age of 18 years he moved to Shenandoah, Iowa, with his parents, remaining there two years. He then moved near Holdrege, Nebr., and was married to Nancy Dunbar, November 9, 1884. To this union were born five children. Two having died in infancy. He leaves to mourn his loss a loving wife and three children: Oliver Dunbar of Fleming, Colo., Mrs. Clara Herndon of Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs. Glen Palmer of Moorefield, Nebr., and eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also one sister, Mrs. S. G. Orchard, of Ainsley, Nebr., who was present at the funeral, and other relatives and a host of friends.
He had been in ill health for several years, although only bed fast one week. He bore his suffering with patience to the end.
At an early age he accepted Christ as his Saviour and was baptised into the Batpist church and remained faithful to the end.
Indeed will the voice of a kind and a loving husband, father and grandfather be missed by wife, children and grandchildren in the home. Like an outstanding oak of the forest which has been felled he has passed on. But the influence of his life will ever remain as an inspiration, to those who are sorrowing.
A voice we loved is stilled,
A precious one from us has gone.
A place is vacant in our home
Which can never be filled.
God in his wisdom has recalled,
The boom his love had given
And through the body slumbers
The soul is safe in heaven.
