Obituary Collection
John T. Baker

John T. Baker, 87, of Hawk Springs, former postmaster at Lyman, died at 8 p.m. Wednesday at a Torrington hospital after a three week illness.

He was born July 9, [1863], in Missouri, the son of Andrew and Sarah Baker, ahd had lived at Hawk Springs for 20 years, moving there from Lyman.

He was married to Mary Viola Sexton at Nelson, Nebr., on Aug. 7, 1881. His wife died March 1, 1926.

Other survivors are three sons, Ernest of Okmulgee, Okla., Earl of Lingle and Arthur of Wheatland; daughter, Mrs. Morris Wollam of Torrington; sister, Mrs. Maria Surber of Stockville, Nebr.; brother, Andrew of Lindon, Colo., half-sister, Mrs. Adalia Carson of Edgar, Nebr.; 22 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Another daughter, Mrs. Gabrella Banzhaf of Torrington, died earlier.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Coyler Funeral Home at Torrington with Rev. Jack Hawthorne conducting the service. Burial will be made in Valley View cemetery.
