Ray Groenewold, 84, of North Platte, formerly of Farnam, Nebraska, died October 21, 2019 in North Platte, NE.

He was born May 23, 1935 in Cozad, NE, son of Eddie Groenewold and Eva McCance. He grew up north of Cozad, attended country school and graduated from Cozad High. Ray married Connie Peters to this union two children were born - Georgette and Rod. He spent his life living in Dawson County until the last two years he lived in North Platte. Ray was a member of the Farnam United Methodist Church. He spent his life working as a house mover and carpenter. He was the only mover in Nebraska to successfully finish every house or building with no damage. He loved what he was doing. Ray married Gerene Deselms on September 23, 1987 at Branson, MO and inherited three sons.

Surviving are wife, Gerene Groenewold of North Platte, NE, four sons, Rodney (Becky) Groenewold, William (Stephanie) McPeak of Ogallala, NE, Daniel (Lori) McPeak of Farnam, NE, Timothy McPeak of Lincoln, NE; daughter, Georgette (Jim ) Flesch of Gothenburg, NE, 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, sister, Louise Hintz; along with extended family and friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Anderson; fathers, Eddie Groenewold and Donald Nichelsen; two brothers, Dick and Don Nichelsen.

Visitation will be held at Blase–Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Thursday, October 24, 2019, 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm. with the family present from 4–6.

Funeral services will be held at Farnam United Methodist Church, Friday, October 25, 2019 at 11:00 am with Pastor Neil Kloppenborg officiating.

Interment will follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, Cozad, Nebraska.

Memorials may be given to the family for later designation.
