John G. Miller
John Grove Miller, son of John and Olive Miller, was born August 7, 1897, at Eustis, Nebraska, and died on Monday, July 13, 1942, at Provo, South Dakota.
On March 16, 1912, he was united in marriage to Inas Musgrave at Minden, Neb., and to the union six children were born.
The family moved to Lingle, Wyoming, in 1915 and settled on a homestead, residing there until 1928 when they moved to Farnam, Neb. After two years in Farnam, they moved to Gothenburg and have since made this their home.
Surviving him are his wife, six children: two daughters, Mrs. Lucille Williams of Denver and Mrs. Gladys Peterson of North Platte, and four sons: Lynn of Denver, Leonard of North Platte, Johnny of Bremerton, Wash., and Stanley at home. He also leaves five brothers: George of Cozad, A. J. of Lingle, Wyo., Orville and Harold of Vernonia, Oregon, and Ira of Maxwell, Calif.; and two sisters: Mrs. Mollie Berry of Garden City, Kas., and Mrs. Ira Austin of Gothenburg; as well as a long list of friends who will cherish his memory. Genial and likeable, industrious and conscientious, he made friends easily and held them because of his evident enjoyment of his fellow men.
At the time of his death he as employed by Terteling & Sons on war work at Provo, South Dakota, and was a trusted employee of that organization. He was stricken with a heart attack as he arrived at headquarters to go to work on the four o’clock shift.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the Olesen Mortuary, in charge of Rev. James W. Harris, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Robert M. Williams was soloist, with Mrs. Anna P. Boisot at the piano. Pallbearers were Emmet Bean, B. B. Atkins, Ted C. Rine, Meinert Franzen, Roy Stickelman and Emil Friesenborg. Interment was in Fairview cemetery.
