MRS. MARY GIRVIN ANSWERS FINAL SUMMONS
Mrs. Mary (Walker) Girvin of Flagler, Colo., passed away peacefully, May 28, 1930 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charlotte Frisby at Pratt, Kans. Mrs. Girvin had been in very poor health for a long time but was apparently much better and only recently left her home for a visit with her daughter and family and the death angel came without any warning while Mrs. Frisby was trying to arrange her mother in a comfortable position for a nap.
The deceased had led an exemplary Christian life for years and was a faithful member of the Flagler Congregation church. Her pastor conducted a shorty prayer service at Mrs. Girvin's late home at 12:30 Sunday, June 1st and funeral services in honor of Mrs. Girvin were held at 1 o'clock at the Congregational church by the pastor and assisted by others and the remains were tenderly interred in the Flagler cemetery by the side of her husband and other loved ones, who had preceded her to the great beyond. A large group of relatives and friends assembled at the church to pay their last respects to the deceased and the profusion of beautiful floral offerings and the long cortege that wended its way to the silent city of the dead spoke volumes of the respect, in which the departed was held.
Mrs. Girvin was a mother of a large family of boys and girls, many of whom have lived to a mature age and are now left to mourn the passing of mother, a sister, a large group of grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends, join them in their grief. Had Mrs. Girvin lived until June 25th, she would have been seventy-seven years old. Like Mary of Bible times she, had done what she could for the happiness of her family and friends and the betterment of the world and it was especially appropriate and fitting that her pastor should eulogize her efforts and he also spoke eloquently of what a blessing memory is, especially as we recall the deeds of loved ones who have passed on.
Mrs. Girvin has frequently visited in Farnam and will be remembered by many for her kindly ministrations of faithful assistance during the illness and death of her sister, the late, Mrs. E. J. Ainlay. Two brothers, John and Archibald Walker are at rest in the Farnam cemetery having preceded Mrs. Ainlay and Mrs. Girvin in death years ago.
