DEPARTED
Gerald Curtis Palmer was born Jan. 15, 1923 and departed this life on March 2, 1930 at the age of 7 years, 1 month and 16 days.
He became ill on February 13, having contracted measles. He was taken to the Mary Lanning hospital at Hastings, Nebraska, and all that could be done for him by competent and skilled doctors and nurses proved to be of no avail. After days of intense suffering he went to be at rest. His grandfather was with him in the closing hours of life.
He leaves to mourn his departure his loving father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Palmer, as sister, Neva Faye, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Palmer, nine uncles, nine aunts and many other relatives and a host of friends.
Gerald was of a sunny disposition and greatly loved by all his acquaintances.
The funeral services were held in the Union church at Moorefield, Nebraska on Wednesday, March 5, 1930, being conducted by Rev. Kent H. Clifton of the Curtis Methodist church. The church was beautifully arranged with flowers and a great throng of friends gathered for the service. Burial was made in the Moorefield cemetery.
Where for should I make my moan
Now the darling child is dead?
He to rest is early gone,
He to paradise is fled.
I shall go to him, but he
Never shall return to me.
