Cecil B. Baker

Cecil B. Baker, 81, of Kearney, formerly of Cozad, NE died peacefully on September 15, 2018 at home surrounded by his family in Kearney, NE.

He was born October 21, 1936 in Farnam, NE, son of Lawrence and Marie (Crampton) Baker.

Cecil grew up at Farnam. He married Rosella Callahan on September 30, 1957 at Farnam; to this union, four children were born - Vicki, Gene, Bill, and Connie. Cecil worked for many years in the farming industry and Monroes Automotive in Cozad. The family lived at Cozad for many years before moving to a little farm near Ruskin, NE. Later they moved to Kearney, NE. He was a member of the Gothenburg Seventh-day Adventist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He spent many happy hours tinkering in his shop. He loved his family and going to family gatherings. Cecil was a gentle soul with a ready smile and a helping hand.

Survived by his wife, Rosella Baker of Kearney; two sons, Gene Baker, Wasilla, Alaska; Bill (Melinda) Baker, DeWitt; two daughters, Vicki (Darrell) Stull, Kearney, Connie (Dennis) Reiss, Sutton; 13 grandchildren Ashley, Mathew, Kayleigh, Riley, Dillon, Brandon, Kinsley, Chesney, Levi, Josh, Zach, Nicole, Desiree; 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; sister, Sherry (Merle) Lind; two brothers, Jim (Pat) Baker, Gary (Deb) Baker; two brother-in-laws Willis (Onna) Callahan, Doug (Marlene) Callahan, sister-in-law Chris (Lynn) Barnes; along with many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Joan Bernal, mother and father-in-law Bill and Ruth Callahan, brothers-in-law Bob and wife Nancy Callahan and Larry Callahan.

Memorial Services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 2:00 pm.

Memorials may be given to the Cecil Baker family for a Literacy improvement program.
