Alvin Lewis Hathaway was born August 25th, 1898, on a farm south of Farnam and passed from this life at the Cozad hospital Wednesday, May 27, 1953, at the age of 54 years, 9 months and 2 days. He was the youngest of five children born to George and Ortensa Hathaway.

He attended rural school in Frontier county and farmed a number of years. He was a member of the mercantile firm of Cross & Hathaway at Ingham and at Spring Ranch.

In August 1923 he was united in marriage to Gladys Nichols and to this union two sons were born, Robert Royce of El Campo, Texas, and Paul Alvin of Lincoln.

In the early twenties he entered the employment of the Schilpp Store at Eustis and when this firm dissolved was employed by the Eustis Mercantile Co. In 1945 he became manager of the Eustis Farm Supply Co., where he continued in service until the time of his death.

He was a member of the Reorganized Latter Day Saints church.

Besides his wife and sons, he is survived by two grandsons, a brother and two sisters.
