Richard Brown Obituary
Richard Brown, was born September 22, 1862, at Silver Lake, Indiana, and departed this life at Lexington, Nebraska on November 5, 1951, at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 14 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and one sister, and his companion, who passed on January 6, 1927.
He was united in marriage with Nancy Salena Cauffman, July 25th 1885. To this union six children were born. Two sons, Roy Brown, of Eustis, Ted Brown, of Elwood, four daughters, Mrs. Wanda Nelson of Aurora, Mrs. Cora Sheffield, of Farnam, Mrs. Opal Sheffield, of Brady and Mrs. May Hayes, of Orafino. He is survived by three brothers, Kurt Brown, of Mitchell, Charley Brown, of Indiana, and Irvin Brown of California. His six children, 24 grand-children, and 22 great-grand-children.
On April 2, 1886, he with his wife and oldest daughter arrived at Cambridge, to make the west their future home. They took a tree claim in the Orafino community.
He loved to attend Church with his family and was always willing to assist where he could. He sang in the choir for many years. He was a good father, and will always be remembered by his friends as one who helped to lighten the burden of others.
Funeral services were held November 7 from the Olesen Funeral Home to the Evangelical United Brethren church at Orafino, Rev. F. C. Ebinger officiating. Interment was in the Denny cemetery south of Orafino.
