Elsie Pearl (Stalnaker) Brinkhous

Mrs. Elsie Pearl Brinkhous 71, widow of the late William R. Brinkhous, passed away at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital Wedneday afternoon, January 7, 1959 following a year of failing health.

Mrs. Brinkhous was born near Little Port, Iowa, February 8, 1887, to William and Sarah Stalnaker. In January 1908, she was married to William R. Brinkhous at Little Port, Iowa. Following their marriage they moved to Gothenburg and located on his Uncle Ed Brinkhous' farm, 5 miles north of Gothenburg. In 1914, they bought and moved to a farm 6 miles north of Farnam. Mr. Brinkhous died July 14, 1956. Following his death, Mrs. Brinkhous and son, George and family continued to live on the farm. Seven years ago, she moved to Gothenburg where she has since made her home.

Besides her husband, she was also preceeded in death by her parents and one sister.

Surviving are her son, George of McCook; one sister, Mrs. Charles Meder of Elkader, Iowa; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 9, 1959 at 2:00 p.m. at the Olesen Funeral Home with Rev. James L. Green officiating. Singers were Mr. and Mrs. Arch Trimble and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Geiken. Mrs. Eugene Hecox, organist.

Pallbearers were William Rine, Elgie Thompson, Harold Lehman, Art Heumphreus, Ed Shnackenberg and Cliff Reynolds.

Internment was in the Gothenburg Cemetery.
