Obituary of Mrs. Joseph Wood
Malinda King was born October 1, 1831, in Rush County, Indiana, and died at North Platte, Nebraska, December 22, 1924, aged 93 years, 2 months and 21 days.
She was married to Joseph Wood in Boone County, Indiana, in April 1855, and to this union seven children were born, six of whom are still livening, viz.: C. W. Wood of North Platte; Joseph W. of Adrian, Missouri; L. C. of Curtis, Nebraska; Emma F. Herndon of Stratton, Colorado; Mary E. Taylor of Curtis, Nebraska; and Sarah A. Lindsay of Jamesport, Missouri. One son, James M., died in 1921.
Mr. and Mrs. Wood moved to Daviess County, Missouri, in 1865, where they lived until 1904, when on account of Mr. Wood’s failing health they came to Frontier County, Nebraska, to live. Mr. Wood preceded his wife in death, passing away in November 1904.
Besides the children there are living thirty-nine grandchildren and forty-five great-grandchildren.
She was converted and united with the Pilot Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Daviess County, Missouri, over fifty years ago.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wood were held in the Nazarene Church at Curtis on Friday, December 26th, conducted by Rev. Harvey Miller, the pastor. Interment was made in the Stockville cemetery beside the remains of her long departed husband.
Our sympathy is extended to the bereaved relatives.
