Obituary Collection
Elizabeth Wood

Grandma Wood passed away Saturday night, January 7th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert McLaughlin. She was subject to chronic liver trouble but was very spry for a lady of her years, until a few days before she died, when she took cold and with the grippe made a complication of diseases that took her quite suddenly.

Elizabeth Gullion was born in Indiana on July 4, 1836. She grew to womanhood in that state and married Cornelius Wood about 58 years ago. In 1867 they moved to Jamesport, Mo., where they resided until 7 years ago, when, on account of old age, they came to make their home with their daughter, Mrs. Robert McLaughlin.

Mrs. Wood was the mother of fourteen children four of whom have passed on before her, and the other ten are left, with their aged father who is eighty-three years old, to mourn her loss.

The children are as follows: Samuel and Thomas, Mrs. Mary Mast and Mrs. Anna McLaughlin, all of Frontier county, Nebraska; William Wood, Mrs. Hannah Hodge and Mrs. Rosa Scott of Jamesport, Mo., Mrs. Fannie Mitchell of Goodland, Kansas, Mrs. Mellisa Kendall of Pueblo, Col., and Mrs. Sarah Curtis of Sterling, Col.

Mrs. Wood in early life united with the Christian church and lived a living example of a Christian character, departing ready to meet the Saviour when he shall come. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at the Moorefield Methodist church, conducted by Elder Skinner and burial was made in the Moorefield cemetery.

The tender sympathies of all are extended to the bereaved, and especially to Grandfather Wood, who will greatly miss the one who for these many years has been ever near and dear to him through over a half century.
