Mrs. Effie Grandstaff

Mrs. Effie Grandstaff, who lived alone on a farm north of Moorefield, was found dead last Wednesday morning by CLare Nelson, a neighbor. Mr. Nelson noticed Mrs. Grandstaff’s chickens were not out around the yard that morning and went over to see if she might be ill, as no one answered his knock on the door he looked in a window and saw her lying on the floor. He went in and found she had passed away. Help was called but she apparently had been dead several hours. Mrs. Grandstaff had lived in this community for many years. She was born June 12, 1869 and passed away June 2, 1943 and was laid to rest in the Moorefield cemetery Sunday afternoon, June 6, 1943. Funeral services were conducted by E. E. Giesler. Mr. Grandstaff died 42 years ago leaving his wife with several small children, who grew to manhood and womanhood on the farm where Mrs. Grandstaff always lived. Sympathy is extended the bereaved ones.
