RoJean F. Gutherless
RoJean F. Gutherless, 89, of North Platte, departed this life on Aug. 3, 2022, at Linden Court.
RoJean was born on Jan. 21, 1933, to Irvin C. and Velma E. (Hand) Johnson at her maternal grandparent’s farm north of Moorefield. Her family moved to Boise, Idaho, in 1937, returning a year later to Stockville where she began her education. She attended country schools in the Orfino and Farnam area, graduating from Farnam High School.
On June 18, 1950, RoJean was united in marriage to Wilber "Pete" Crawford in Loveland, Colorado. Two daughters and a son blessed this union. They made their home in Gothenburg. RoJean worked at different restaurants before going to work for the City of Gothenburg. In 1970, she opened a tax accounting and bookkeeping office, retiring in 1989.
In August 1974, RoJean was united in marriage to Earl R. Gutherless, moving to North Platte in 1989.
She was a member of Bethel Evangelical Free Church. She attended Tuesday morning Bible Study, Christian Women’s, Bethel Widows Grief Group and was a deaconess.
RoJean’s pleasure in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends, preparing dinners for any occasion. She enjoyed reading and spending time in the Lord’s word, loved the outdoors and spent many hours tending her flowers and garden.
RoJean was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Velma Johnson; loving husbands, Pete Crawford and Earl Gutherless; daughter, JoLynn S. Reed; son, Steven L. Crawford; brother, Merle I. Johnson; sister-in-law, Judy A. Johnson; and sisters, Roberta Seals and Jannette Evans. Those left to cherish RoJean’s memory are her daughters, Connie (Larry) Gengenbach of Eustis; grandchildren, Tracy (Chris) Blecha of Yuma, Colorado, Lawanda (Paul) Gaul of Bailey, Colorado, Kameron (Ashley) Crawford of Loyalton, California, and Kytanna (Jeff) Prokosch of Reno, Nevada; step-grandsons, Phillip (Heather) Gutherless of Golden, Colorado, and Jason Gutherless of Parker, Colorado; twenty-two great-grandchildren; brother, Charles (Aileen) Johnson of Kearney; aunt, Donna Swanson of North Platte; many nieces, nephews, and other family; and her church family.
Celebration of life is at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at Bethel Evangelical Free Church, 2700 W. Philip Ave., North Platte, with Pastor Geoff Safford and Pastor Noah Palmer officiating. Service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend at carpentermemorial.com. Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, near Maxwell. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is entrusted with arrangements.
