Death is Victorious

Mrs. John Sanders Dies Monday and
Funeral Yesterday, Rev. Carman
Conducting—An Old Inhabitant.

Mrs. J. L. Sanders died at her home in Stockville early Monday morning after a short illness of pneumonia. She has been in feeble health for several years and was not able to withstand so severe an attack of sickness.

The funeral services were held at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. M. B. Carman of McCook conducting. The remains were laid to rest in the Arbor cemetery at Stockville.

All of her children were present at the funeral except Mrs. L. Larson of Minden who was unable to be here. The funeral was a large one, many friends coming from neighboring towns to attend. Many floral tributes were sent from distant friends.

No words of ours can express the feelings of her many friends better than the tribute of Rev. Carman, who said in his sermon: “I have personally known Mrs. Sanders for twenty years and over four years of that time as a member of the family and have this tribute to offer: A kind, charitable and generous person, a Christian lady who knew God and the joy of His salvation; a loving and devoted wife and self-sacrificing mother, an accomodating neighbor—a genuine good woman. She heard my first sermon and was among the first to take my hand a speak a word of cheer, and now my last sermon is for her as her wasted form lies before me in the casket. Her last words to me were, “He saves me.’ ”

Mrs. Sanders has lived in this vicinity for over thirty years and has a large circle of friends and acquaintenances who are made sad by her death and extend sympathy to her bereaved relatives.

Besides her own immediate family she leaves three sisters to mourn her death, Mrs. J. C. Doing and Mrs. Mary Johnson of Stockville and Mrs. Kate Vandervort of Oregon who was not present at the funeral. Mrs. Johnson’s husband, M. M. Johnson, was buried but two weeks ago and her cup of grief is full to overflowing.
