Pioneer Frontier County Mother Survives Husband Only 11 Days
Mrs. Julia A. Walker passed away at her home in Monterey Park, Calif., May 30, surviving her husband, Jacob Jerome Walker, by only eleven days. Mr. and Mrs. Walker had been married 63 years April 10 of this year.
Mr. and Mrs. Walker were Frontier county pioneers, homesteading south of Moorefield in 1883. Two daughters, Mrs. Jesse Marsh and Mrs. Sam Wood both of near Curtis are still living in the county. Other surviving children are Chas. A. of Wilmer, Calif.; Harriet of Nebraska City, Nebr.; Foster of Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Emma Reynolds of Goodland, Kansas; Mrs. Lottie Powers of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Mrs. Amanda Baker of Los Angeles. Four children, Harry, Margaret, Stella and Katherine preceded the mother and father.
Mrs. Walker, whose maiden name was Brant, was born in Burlin, Somerset county, Pa., May 29, 1854. She died on May 30, just two hours after the passing of her eighty-first birthday.
Numbering among the early pioneers in this section, coming here in 1883, Mr. and Mrs. Walker lived here 35 years and moved to California 18 years ago where they spent their remaining years.
Mrs. Walker was laid to rest in Inglewood Park cemetery at Inglewood, Calif., beside her husband of 63 years who was buried there May 23, 1935.
