Theodore Daniel Curtis

Theodore Daniel Curtis was born in Saugers, Mass.; on November 4, 1863. Came to Stockville, Nebraska, in the year 1888. Was united in marriage to Annie H. Bailey in Novmeber 24, 1897. To them was born one son, Herbert F. Curtis, of Seligman, Arizona. Mrs. Curtis died in the year 1906 and shortly thereafter Mr. Curtis moved from Stockville, locating in Hastings. On May 4, 1912, he was united in marriage to Laura Brookhaven at Hastings, where they resided for a few years, moving to Bayard, Nebraska, which place continued to be their home until Mrs. Curtis’ death, about three years ago. Mr. Curtis removed to Lincoln in the winter of 1929 where he lived until his death which occurred January 25, 1931.

Mr. Curtis was a member of the Bagmen of Bagdad, the United Commercial Travelers, the International Lions Club and the Methodist Episcopal Church and took great pride in his membership in each.

He leaves to no near relatives, other than his son Herbert and the latter’s family.

Funeral services were conducted at Stockville Tuesday Jan. 26, by Rev. T. E. Smith.

Former Bayard
Postmaster Dies

Theodore D. Curtis, 68, former employee of the Nebraska state house of representatives, died Sunday morning at his home, 112 South Nineteenth street, after an illness of three months.

Born in Boston, Mass., he came to Nebraska in 1891, living in Stockville and Hastings before moving to Bayard where he lived until 1929. He was a postmaster at Bayard for three years and was in business for eleven years.

He came to Lincoln two years ago to enter the employ of the house of representatives, later being employed by the state engineering department until the time of his illness. Funeral arrangements are pending the arrival of his only survivor, a son, Herbert F. Curtis of Seligman, Ariz.
