Obituary Collection
Mrs. C. C. Callahan

Mrs. C. C. Callahan, aged 59, passed away in a Kirksville hospital Monday night. She had been ill for several weeks, but the family and friends were not aware of the serious nature of her illness until she went to the hospital. Funeral services were held in the Baptist church here, Wednesday afternoon. Her pastor, Rev. Adams, delivered a short, but eloquent sermon and Mrs. L. N. Glaves sang a solo and Mrs. Glaves and Mrs. Boone Nelson sang two duets. Mrs. Sol Gnuse was accompanist. The many floral offerings were only a slight recognition of her standing in the community. She was a faithful wife, mother and church member and leaves a family of five daughters and one son, who with the husband are bereft. The children are: Miss Cordia Callahan, Mrs. Lloyd Crandall, Mrs. Frank Hubbard, Mrs. George Davon, Miss Effie Callahan and Emmett Callahan. Besides these her mother, Mrs. Palmer, of Iowa, and four brothers and three sisters survive. Mrs. Callahan was the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Palmer, the former Baptist minister for many years, holding charges in Nebraska. Burial was in the local cemetery amid a profusion of flowers and hosts of sorrowing friends, who will miss this lovely personality and deeply sympathize with her loved ones left grief-stricken.
