OBITUARY DORA PEARSON
Dora Catherine daughter of William and Rose Ann Seitz Allen, was born June 11, 1872 at Cable, Illinois and passed away at the Cozad Hospital, Sunday March 16, 1958 after having suffered a paralytic stroke at the Theil Care Home in Lexington, Nebraska, February 24th. She was 85 years, 9 months and 5 days.
On June 16, 1887 she was united in marriage to Mahlon E. Pearson at Broken Bow, Nebraska. To this union were born three daughters and two sons.
She came to Cozad in the early 1880’s with her parents and two brothers and settled on a farm five miles north of Cozad. Later, she with her husband and family homesteaded north of Moorefield, Nebraska, where she made her home until 1938, when she moved to Cozad.
She was baptized in the Evangelical Church in her girlhood.
Those preceding her in death were her father, mother, three brothers, six sisters, her husband and two sons, Charles and Everett, one daughter, Nellie, and two grand sons.
She leaves to mourn her loss two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Strickland, and Mrs. Dora Scrutchfield, both of Cozad; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Emma Pearson of Buhl, Idaho, three sons-in-law, A. M. Gunn of Grand Junction, Colo., E. L. Strickland and Charles Scrutchfield of Cozad, Twenty one grand children, fifty three great grand children, seven great great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Berryman Funeral Home, Wednesday, March 19 and at Moorefield Church, in Moorefield, Nebraska that afternoon. Reverend Nye O. Bond was the clergyman. Music was furnished by Mrs. Jack Stuart, Mrs. Wayne Hoffman, Robert Atchison, and Wayman May, accompanied by Mrs. Emil Barta and by Vern Todd and Arvis Messersmith, accompanied by Mrs. Arvis Messersmith.
Casket bearers, all grandsons of Mrs. Pearson were Bill Slack, Gary Strickland, Larry Strickland, Donald Strickland, Kenneth Strickland and Meryl Diefenderfer. Interment was in the Moorefield Cemetery.
