Virgil Johnson Passes Away

Virgil Johnson, son of Mrs. Fred Johnson passed away on Friday, August 29. He had been in ill health only a short time and his death was a shock to the family.

He was 44 years of age, and was a carpenter by trade.

He leaves a wife and family at Madrid, where they made their home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Elsie, Nebr. in the Catholic church, burial was in the Madrid Cemetery.

OBITUARY

Virgil Harry Johnson

Virgil Harry Johnson, son of Judith and Emil Johnson, was born on December 31, 1913 at Bertrand, Nebraska, and departed this life at Denver, Colo., on August 29, at the age of 44 years and 8 months. He grew up on a farm south of Farnam.

On September 19, 1935, he was united in marriage to Margaret Ann Vlasin and to this union were born five daughters; Marlene, La Donna, Linda and Naomi.

Virgil was a kind, loving husband and father and his generosity and kindness was known throughout the community. Much of his happiness in life came from assisting and helping his friends and neighbors.

His father, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Margaret, his five daughters, and one son-in-law, Loren Mohr, and his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Johnson of Farnam. Also his five brothers: Eugene of Elsie, Ardell of Madrid, Donald of California, Forrest of Farnam, and seven sisters: Rhonda Johnson of Farnam, Lorena Kennicutt and Dorothy Vlasin of Elsie, Dora Mueller and Ruby Huber of Ogallala, Aliene Stewart of Los Angeles, Calif., and Adeleay Bassler of Tehachopl, Calif. Plus a large number of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning at the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church of Elsie. Rev. Father Bobrowski officated.
