Dona Ealy
Dona Ealy, 91, of Curtis, died peacefully at Senior Living Choices in Curtis on Thursday, June 25, 2020.
Dona was born at Stapleton to Raymond and Margaret Crewdson on March 27, 1929. She grew up in North Platte where she graduated from high school then worked for a while before getting married.
On November 14, 1948, Dona was united in marriage to Rex Ealy in North Platte where they made their home. They later moved to Moorefield to live and work on the family farm; Dona helped run the ag business and the farm. Rex and Dona were married for nearly 68 years when he passed away in 2016.
Dona was a great farm wife and mother who helped raise many of her nieces and nephews, and liked gardening and canning all kinds of foods. She was also a member of the Medicine Valley High School Board for 10 years.
Along with her husband, Rex, Dona was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Margaret Crewdson; brothers, Paul Crewdson and Gary and wife, Pauline Crewdson; sisters and their spouses, Juanita and Bill Cooper, Velva and Earl Dietzler, Georgina and Lawrence Bay, Marlys and Carl Waak, and Jane and Edward Ahlberg; and sister-in-law, Skeets Crewdson.
Dona is survived by her daughters, Maurice (Kevin) Bortner, of Moorefield, and Ann Ealy (Scott Hibbs), of Omaha; grandchildren, Heath (Hilary) Bortner and Danielle (TJ) Harding; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Donna Jean Harding and Barrett and Blayden Bortner; her brother, Milford Crewdson, of North Platte; as well as many other family members.
Cremation was chosen. Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2020, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore. The memorial book may be signed online at odeanchapel.com or prior to the service at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore which is in charge of arrangements.
