Mrs. E. T. Stinnette Passes Away
Mrs. E. T. Stinnette, wife of Rev. E. T. Stinnette passed away at their Moorefield home, Monday forenoon, March 22, after a severe sickness that caused her most intense suffering.
Elizabeth Morris was born in Bedford county, Virginia, May 14, 1846, being almost 74 years of age when death claimed her. She was united in marriage to E. T. Stinnette, Dec. 21, 1865, in the county of her birth, and there they resided until 1867, when they moved to Missouri and lived for 20 years, thence from Missouri they went to Colorado for almost 3 years and from Colorado they came to Frontier county, Nebr., in 1890 and have made their home here ever since.
To this union eleven children were born, two of whom have been called on before and the other nine have grown to maturity, five boys and four girls. Besides leaving the husband and children, she leaves a large number of grandchildren and several great grandchildren, and many friends who will miss “grandma” very much. She united with the Baptist church when but a young lady and has been a very close adherent to that faith ever since. She was a very hard worker, a most devoted wife and mother, and while her husband, worked and preached over this country in earlier days, doing all the goood he could, yet that was only made possible by the loving and devoted wife at home who was toiling on, raising the children and keeping the home fires burning, amid all kinds of conditions, as only those who went through pioneer days can fully appreciate.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Moorefield church conducted by Rev. Field of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist church, interment in the Moorefield cemetery.
Thus closes the earthly career of one rich in years of experience, in labors, in sorrows and smiles, through the weary road of life, rich in faith and confidence of an Eternal home, not made with hands.—Contributed.
