Obituary Collection
Mrs. John W. McElwain

Mrs. Lillian Ivey Roberts McElwain was born at Drakeville, Iowa, April 24, 1876 and passed away at her home in Hastings, Nebr., on Dec. 7, 1936, having attained the age of 60 years, 7 months and 14 days.

She moved to Eustis, Nebraska, in 1885 with her parents, moving to Lincoln county with them in 1887. Here she resided until her marriage to John W. McElwain of Farnam, on October 3, 1895. This union was blessed with four sons and two daughters, two sons passing away in infancy.

Mr. and Mrs. McElwain began their married life on a farm near Eustis, later moving to Eustis, where they resided for 20 years. Later they moved to a farm near Farnam, and in 1931 moved to Hastings to make their home.

Mrs. McElwain accepted Christ as Saviour and Lord, and united with the Evangelical Church at Eustis in 1893. At the time of decease, she was a member of the Grace Evangelical Church at Hastings.

In unselfish devotion she gave her best to her family and friends, as she was able. Her health never permitted her much activity outside her own home.

Those mourning her sudden passing are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Floy Westfall of Smithfield, Nebr., Mrs. Elsie Dalton of Hastings, Nebr., two sons, Lloyd McElwain of Burley, Idaho, Brenard McElwain of Denver, Colo.; three sisters and two brothers, three grandsons and other relatives and friends.
