Final Rites Sunday For I. N. Dempcy, Moorefield
Isaac Newton Dempcy, son of Isaac Holden and Hannah Dempcy was born at Springfield, Iowa Oct. 13, 1860, and departed this life at his ranch near Moorefield Friday, Jan. 26, 1945 at the age of 84 years, 3 months, and 13 days. His mother died when he was an infant, and his grandmother Wilson had the care of him.
He came with his father to Arapahoe, Nebr. when a small boy where he grew to manhood. He rode the range for several years and had many experiences with the Indians.
On Dec. 24, 1884 Mr. Dempcy was united in marriage to Miss Emely Wambough of Arapahoe. To this union were born 6 children, 3 sons and 3 daughters. Mrs. Ethel Kempton, and Mrs. Edna Schick who preceded him in death. Mrs. Jessie Rose of Moorefield, Ralph H. of Gothenburg, Bruce I. of Moorefield, and Harold N. of Tacoma, Wash. His wife, Emely, passed away Oct. 23, 1913.
Mr. Dempcy was united in marriage to Mrs. Ella Stinnette Smith at North Platte Sept. 14, 1915. To this union was born one daughter, Lillian, now Mrs. Walrath of North Platte.
In September 1921 Mr. Dempcy moved to North Platte where he was in the automobile business for 17 years, after which he moved back to his ranch near Moorefield where he spent his remaining years.
Those to mourn his passing, besides his wife Ella, and her 5 living children, his 5 children, 22 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, a host of friends and other relatives.
Funeral services were conducted in the Moorefield Union church Sunday, Jan. 28, with Elder E. E. Giesler officiating. Burial was made in the Moorefield cemetery.
