Francis Marion Beezley Passed
Away at His Home in Auburn.


Born in Hancock County
Illinois, January 28, 1842


Enlisted in the service of His
Country in 1864 as a Private
in Company H of the 78th
Illinois Infantry.


Francis Marion Beezley was born January 28, 1842, in Hancock County, Ill., and departed this life in Auburn April 15, 1929, at the age of 87 years, 2 months, 17 days.

The deceased grew to manhood in Illinois and in 1864 enlisted in the service of his country as a private in Company H of the 78th Illinois Infantry. He served seventeen months. Soon after his entering the service he was wounded in the ankle and was confined to the hospital many months. He did not recover sufficiently to resume his place in the ranks and was discharged in 1865.

At Oqunku, Illinois, on December 7, 1869, he married Sarah E. Thrush.

Together they began their home in Illinois then to Iowa, where they lived twelve years; then to Kansas in 1886, and to Frontier County, Nebraska in 1889, where they resided twelve years.

They came to Auburn in 1898, where the wife passed away in 1921. Their family consisted of five children, two sons and three daughters, namely: Kirby Beezley, Alliance, Neb.; Jessie Beezley, Lincoln, Neb.r; Mrs. Effie Yates, Lincoln, Nebr.; Mrs. Gertrude Chillen, Lincoln, Nebr.; and Mrs. Bertha McClintock, with whom the deceased had made his home during his last years.

The five living children who are present, and together with fourteen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren, sorrow for the departure of one whom they have loved.

The deceased was at one time a member of the Methodist church. His life was lived in care of his family; his integrity was unquestioned, and his memory ligners with those who have known him. He now responds to roll call in the eternal ranks of our God.

Funeral services were held at the Avenue Methodist church, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock and conducted by Rev. S. A. Draise. Interment in Sheridan cemetery.
