Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Evarts was born in Ohio, October 8, 1844. Died January 15, 1919, aged 74 years, 3 months and 7 days.

The deceased was married in Illinois to Leman Evarts in 1863. She was the mother of fourteen children of which four sons and four daughters are living.

After their marriage they moved to Cloud county, Kansas, where they lived nineteen years on a homestead. Then they moved to [Otoe] county, Nebraska, and lived there two years. Leman Evarts died in [Otoe] county in 1893. Then she and her children moved to Jasper county and lived there seven years, then moved to Lincoln county, residing here until her death.

She leaves to mourn her loss four sons and four daughters of her own, twenty-eight grand children, nine great grand children, and a host of friends.
