Charles Willets

Charles Willets, a resident of Lexington for 33 years, passed away Sunday, August 16, at the Brown home in South Lexington, at the age of 78 years, 3 months and six days. His parents moved to Nebraska when he was a small boy, settling south of Smithfield on Turkey creek at which place he grew to manhood.

He was married March 28, 1886, to Mrs. Emma Estes of the same neighborhood. Into this home came four children, Mrs. Josie Hopkins of Wood River, Ray Willets of Lexington, Mrs. Alma Morton of Kearney and Carl Willets of Elwood. They homesteaded north of Farnam in 1886.

Some years later they moved to Missouri where they stayed for two years, moving back to the Turkey creek neighborhood where they resided until in 1909 when they moved to Lexington. Mrs. Willets passed away Sept. 21, 1931.

Mr. Willets some time ago united with the Christian church at Elwood and never changed his membership.

He leaves to mourn his loss the four children, 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, and many friends.

Interment was in the Elwood cemetery Wednesday of last week.
