David “Dick” Earll,
Early Settler Here,
Called To Reward

Mr. Earll Suddenly Stricken And
Passed Away At Home Of
His Brother


Dick Earll, one of the early settlers on the south side, died of heart trouble early Thursday morning at the home of his brother, John T. Earll, in this city. With his son, John, and daughter, Evelyn, he had spent the evening in Gothenburg, and prepared to leave for home at midnight. After getting in his car he became ill and was taken to his brother’s home where he passed away three hours later.

David Earll, known as “Dick” Earll, was born July 23, 1878, near Rome, Iowa, and died at the age of 52 years and 7 days, July 31, 1930, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Earll in Gothenburg.

In the yar of 1888 he moved with his parents to Nebraska. In the year of 1900, he took a homestead fifteen miles southwest of Gothenburg in Lincoln county, where he has since resided.

On November 25, 1903, he was united in marriage to Pearl Wallingford. To this union were born seven children, of whom two passed away in infancy. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and five children, Della Earll, who lives with her aunt, Mrs. C. H. Smith in Gothenburg; Mrs. Jane Putnam of the south side; John, Minnie and Evelyn Earll, who live at home; one brother, John T. Earll, and two sisters, Mrs. C. H. Smith and Mrs. Wm. Putnam, all of Gothenburg. Also a number of other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Banner church, following short services at the home of Mrs. C. H. Smith, and were conducted by Rev. Joseph Stopford. Burial was made in Peckham cemetery. The following were pall bearers: Sam L. Brown, Mike Lyons, Carl Baker, Chas. W. Golden, E. A. Axthelm and L. C. Patterson.
