Mrs. C. R. Graves-Moore
Mrs. C. R. Graves-Moore died at her home in this city Saturday, Nov. 29, 1919, at the advanced age of 87 years, 3 months and 20 days.
C. Rosetta Chase was born in Meigs County, Ohio, Aug. 10, 1832. On July 17, 1863, she was married to Daniel U. Graves, at Harrisonville, Ohio. There were born to the union two children, both surviving. They are Mrs. Fred Hecox of our South Side, and Charles W. Graves of Parker, Arizona. Mr. Graves was a Civil War veteran, and died at Rutland, Ohio, Jan. 28, 1875. After coming to Nebraska and settling at Cozad, Mrs. Graves married Peter Moore, and the family resided for sometime on a homestead south of this city. Her husband’s death occured the same year, 1883. Besides two children mentioned, she leaves five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Graves early in life became a member of the Baptist church. In her last few earthly years she was quite feeble, but always had a kindly greeting for her dear friends in Gothenburg. By these Grandma Graves-Moore was loved and revered in the twilight of life so near the darkening hour.
Rev. Arthur Soundy conducted funeral services at Banner M. E. church last Monday afternoon. Interment was at Peckham cemetery.
