Mrs. C. L. Carey died Tuesday, October 3, 1916, at her home near Carbon. The funeral services were held in the Free Methodist church at Carbon Thursday, the 5th, and interment was made in Oakland cemetery in Quincy.

Sarah Ann Haden was born in England on the 14th of July, 1848, and she was aged 68 years, 2 months and 20 days at the time of her demise. When about four years of age she with her parents came to America, locating in Clayton county, Mich., where she was married to Calvin Luther Carey in 1863. Mr. and Mrs. Carey came to this locality later and in 1895 Mr. Carey died. To Mr. and Mrs. Carey nine children were born, of whom seven survive their parents.
