Old Resident Dead

Asa Lincoln, 75 years old, the last twenty of which were lived in Nebraska, died at his home on West Third street Friday at 4 p.m.

His death was not a surprise as he had been suffering from a severe attack of muscular rheumatism for five months. His wife and children were at his bedside continually during this time but old age and intense suffering made useless all their remedies and they were unable to keep back the hands of death.

Mr. Lincoln was born in Otsega county, N. Y., April 25, 1832, where he lived until he was 15 years old. At this time his parents moved to Dane county, Wisconsin, taking him with them. He lived in Wisconsin until 1889. It was there that he med Lydia Bridges and was married to her Nov. 26, 1855. To this union were born seven children, four of whom are still living.

In 1889 he moved with his family to Gothenburg, Nebr., and shortly afterward to this city.

He has been a member of the Baptist church since his early manhood, having joined it while in Wisconsin. He was deacon and active member of the Baptist church of this city.

The funeral was held at the home Sunday afternoon, Rev. Favoright and Greenlee conducting the services.

The boty was then taken to Britt, Iowa, and will be interred in Evergreen cemetery, in that city.

Mr. John Lincoln of North Platte, and Mrs. Minne House, a daughter, of Chamberlain, South Dakota, accompanied the body to its last resting place.—North Platte Telegraph.
