Death of Ed Moore
Ed Moore, a resident of this vicinity for 23 years and one of our most respected citizens, died at his home in this city Tuesday evening, aged 64 years, 4 months and 2 days.
Mr. Moore suffered a slight stroke of paralysis about a year ago and since that time his health has failed steadily. Funeral services will be held this forenoon at 9:30 at the home and at 11 o’clock at the Banner church. Interment will be made in Peckham cemetery.
Edwin Moore was born Jan. 19, 1848, at South Kelza, Lincolnshire, England. He came with his three brothers to this country in 1869 and settled near Northville, La Salle county, Ill. He was married Dec. 24, 1874, to Miss Sarah Ann Cotlew, at Ottawa, Ill., and removed in 1879 to Nebraska, locating near Unadila, Otoe county, where they resided until, in 1889, they came to Gothenburg and made their home on a farm on the south side until about three years ago, when they occupied their new home in this city.
Ten children were born to them eight of whom, with his wife, survive him: John W., James M., Charles H., Joseph L. and Fred A. Moore, Mary E. Moore and Mrs. Jeannette E. Wareham of Gothenburg and Mrs. Flora M. Fink of Utica, Kansas. He is survived also by one sister and two brothers, Mrs. M. A. Beels of Lee, Ills, George Moore of Somanauk, Ill., and Joseph Moore of Paw Paw, Ill.
