Funeral services for James Kirkwood West, 88, who homesteaded near Morrill in 1909, will be conducted at the Methodist church in Henry on Thursday at 2 p.m. Rev. Fred Johnson a former pastor of the Henry church, will conduct the service and burial will be made in the Morrill cemetery. Arrangements are by the Fisher morturary of Mitchell.

Mr. West was born at Dahlonega, Ia., on April 8, 1856, and died at Morrill on Monday. He married Eunice Ward on Dec. 6, 1881, and three children were born to them. James S. West died Oct. 7, 1920. Surviving are Lewis E. West of Morrill and Margaret C. West of Los Angeles. His wife died Nov. 2, 1929. A sister, Mrs. John Dimmitt, lives in Ottumwa, Ia.

Mr. West was a charter member of the Henry Methodist church. He has lived in the Morrill area since he homesteaded there in 1909, but his health has been failing for the last three years and he had been cared for at the Baker Nursing home in Morrill.
