Obituary Collection
John G. Roth

John G. Roth, was born in Butler county, Iowa, May 18, 1860. At the age of nineteen years he came to Ponca, Dixon county, Nebr., living there ten years, then moving on a homestead near Stockville, Nebr., where he resided five years and returned to Dixon county where he lived until nine years ago, at which time he moved on his farm near Niobrara, Nebr., and where he resided at the time of his death, Dec. 5th, 1918.

He was married to Almedia Dunlap Aug. 21st, 1887. To this union five children were born, of which one departed this life when an infant. Those remaining are: Herbert who is in France, Normand, Frank and Dorthy at home. Besideds his children he leaves to mourn, his wife and four brothers.

Mr. Roth was a man highly respected by all who knew him, and his death came as a great shock to this community. Although he had not been in the best of health since having the influenza he was able to be around and look after his work on the farm, and no one thought that death was so near, and his going leaves a great vacancy, not only in the home, but in the community in which he lived.

Mr. Roth was a member of the Methodist church at Niobrara. Funeral services was held at the family home, Sunday afternoon, Dec. 7th, conducted by Rev. E. W. Nye, and burial was made in the Niobrara cemetery. The community extends sympathy to the family in the loss of their husband and father.
