Benjamin E. Scott
Benjamin E. Scott was born in Sheffield, England, April 14, 1831, and passed away Dec. 11, 1919, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jas. Robinson, north of Fairbury, aged 88 years, 7 months and 27 days.
When twelve years of age he came to Canada, and in 1882 moved to the United States, coming direct to Nebraska, locating in Frontier county, where the home was made for about twenty five years.
August 14, 1856, he was united in marriage to Hannah Gillam at London, Ontario. To this union there were born ten children: four sons and six daughters, seven of whom are still living, Mrs. Lucy Robinson of Fairbury, Clara of Detroit, Mich., Alice of Cleveland, Ohio, Eva of Seattle, Wash., Katie of Shumway, Ill., William in Florida and George in Oregon. There are twenty-four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also remaining.
In 1905 Mr. Scott returned to Canada for several years, and while there Mrs. Scott died and is buried at Mount Bridges, Ontario.
When about 24 years of age he united with the Methodist Episcopal church in which faith he remained firm through-out his entire life.
The funeral was held from the church at Richland Center Saturday afternoon at 2:30, and burial was in the cemetery at Richland Center.
