Isaac J. Chambers
Isaac Chambers, son of Robert W. and Sarah E. Mayfield Chambers, was born in Jefferson county, Indiana in 1858, and departed this life Thursday morning, November 10, 1927, in a Topeka Hospital, at the age of 69 years.
In early life he came west and passed through pioneer experience in Nebraska and Kansas.
Mr. Chambers was united in marriage to Miss Estella Hodgins in 1887, in the state of Nebraska. To this union was born two children, Arthur Franklin and Lulu Leota, who preceded her parents in death.
Isaac Chambers soon after his marriage moved to Kansas and settled on a farm near Centralia, where he lived for many years, until the time of his wife’s death, September 27, 1926.
Mr. Chambers was a good man, kind and sympathetic to those in trouble, and honest in all of his dealings. He was not unmindful of his responsibility to God. He possessed faith and trusted Jesus and his Savior. Some weeks after the departure of his wife, his pastor asked him if he was not lonesome? He replied “yes, but I am not alone for God is with me.”
He leaves to mourn his loss, a son, Arthur Franklin, of Alta Vista, Kansas, two grandchildren, brothers and sisters, besides friends and neighbors.
The funeral was held at the M. E. church last Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. F. O. Hesse. Interment in the Centralia cemetery.
